INTOA design is a upcycling products company founded in 2010 by craftsman and designer (AMK) Helena Hannula in Tampere.

I design and manufacture handmade unique accessories and home textiles using as many upcycled materials as possible. The aim is to make ecological, beautiful and sustainable products from the materials already used. The products are timeless and thus very durable. I make most of the products to customers to order, thus avoiding unnecessary stocks.

The main materials are upcycled jeans and rag rugs, on the basis of which our collection is created. The design is material-oriented and open-minded; I want to combine different materials and find a new shape for a material that has already been used for a new purpose. I make products in small series or unique pieces. The collections live over time and the products are modified according to the customer's wishes. For example, I make denim shoes according to color and material wishes.

The materials are procured e.g. from nearby flea markets and businesses. We also accept donations. However, since not all the materials I need can be used, I try to use surplus materials and end stocks from different manufacturers. In the product design phase, I pay attention to the most efficient use of textile material, minimizing waste material. I avoid unnecessary packaging and the necessary packaging supplies are recycled or recyclable. In doing so, I want to do my part to support sustainable development.

We also make custom products for both companies and communities based on our own collection.
